Bergendal Group’s piggery is a 532 sow-unit which will soon be expanded to a 1200 sow-unit with the establishment of a new grower site after the Environmental Impact Assessment has been completed.

Pigs are raised under the guidance of two expertly qualified animal scientists with experience of the best the global industry has to offer. Equipment and environmental conditions are constantly evaluated to ensure that the pigs are raised in the best possible environment to ensure good stockmanship and exceptional meat quality.

Bergendal Group is proud to use PIC genetics and partake bi-annually in the South African benchmark of PIC.

In 2024 Bergendal Group’s piggery received the award for the best individual and group heavy baconer pig carcasses in South Africa. This was awarded during the SAMIC (South African Meat Industry Company) National Carcass Competition prize giving.
